Advent Day Twenty-Three ✨
We all know about the three wise men in the Christmas story ... but what about the three wise women? Do we find them in the Christmas story? How do find them? We have a clue- the Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. So we need to search for women who displayed the fear of the Lord. And who do we find?

A young woman willing to be boycotted & to put her life in danger within her community as a direct consequence of being obedient to God's will for her life.

An older woman who knew the shame within her community of being childless but who trusted God to answer her prayers for a child.

A very old woman who knew the loneliness & struggles of widowhood at an early age but who trusted God to meet her needs & desires.

Each one was a woman who we read rejoiced and praised God & all displayed a fear of the Lord and thus true Wisdom. And each one found their heart’s desire … as they delighted in God.

One became the mother of Jesus- Mary

One had a son who was to prepare the way for Jesus- Elizabeth

One had the joy of seeing Jesus, the Son of God – the Messiah she had prayed to see her whole life- Anna

All three overflowed with their praise & joy at the birth of Jesus.

To know personally God answers prayers and can be trusted with our lives.

Each one of us is called to be a wise woman...or man – to live our lives in the Fear of the Lord and to experience the adventure of seeing Him answering our prayers as we commit to knowing Jesus as Lord of our lives.

Happy Christmas Day! ✨

Late last night I was wrapping some Christmas gifts (I’m sure no one else left it that late!) and trying to think about what to write for today. As I was taping and tying and struggling to fold the wrapping paper neatly, a verse from the Bible came to mind:
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17

God is good. Everything He does is good and every gift He gives is good. He is not like ‘shifting shadows’, promising something and then changing His mind. If He says it, He’s going to do it.

The Father has promised and given us the greatest gift: His Son, Jesus. A gift coming as a baby and wrapped in a humble swaddling cloth… God gives this gift for all people: every nation, people group, language - past, present and future! A gift wrapped in a humble swaddling cloth, given for all

If you have any need for anything at all, you can ask to the Father. He is a good Father and listens to us, and His answer is always found in the Son.

If you are hurting, Jesus brings healing.
If you are broken, Jesus makes us whole.
If you are lonely, Jesus puts us in families.
If you are sad, Jesus lifts our spirits.
If you are happy, Jesus gives us even more joy!

If you are far from God - as all of us once were - the love of Jesus breaks down the wall of sin and shame between us. Those who call Him Lord will enjoy His life forever. You can do the same today!

This Christmas day, I’m giving thanks to our Father for the most perfect, good gift. I would encourage you to take a moment to do the same, whether yourself or with your families. There is no greater thrill in life than knowing Jesus!
