Advent Day Twenty-One ✨
In the midst of the glittering lights and festive chaos, I’m reminded of the heart of Christmas – the story that's more than just news; it's "good news of great joy" (Luke 2:10). This good news isn't exclusive; it's for all of us, no matter how weary, broken, or tired we may feel.

Picture yourself at the manger, just as you are – weary, broken, and tired. In that humble setting, a profound truth unfolds. The invitation is clear – come to the manger as you are. But here's the beautiful twist. Once you truly come to Him, you'll never be the same. That's the good news of great joy embedded in the Christmas story.

It's a universal message, reaching out to the weary and the broken. In the quiet of the manger, where heaven meets earth, there's an invitation for transformation. Jesus’ birth, echoed in Luke 2:10, isn't just a tale of the past; it's a living narrative inviting me and you to experience joy in the midst of weariness.

So, as you immerse yourself in the festive melodies and the warmth of the season, let this truth resonate: the birth of Jesus is an open invitation for all people, a reminder that in our brokenness, we find restoration.

Words inspired by the melody of a Christmas song I just can't stop listening to, “O Come All You Unfaithful” by Sovereign Grace Music. It is a timeless reminder that once you come to Him, the transformative joy becomes the melody of your own story, for He is Emmanuel – God WITH us.

Advent Day Twenty ✨
As a student, I find Christmas to be truly magical! It’s a time to escape student life and a busy term to be with family. Decorating the house with our childhood creations, carrying out family traditions and enjoying the perks of having a glowing fire to cozy up to, during those cool frosty evenings. It’s the little things!

But all of this, as lovely as it is, is not the reason why I look forward to celebrating Christmas.

Our king, king Jesus, who was not just a baby, but the Son of God, made the most modest entrance into this world when he was born in a little stable in Bethlehem. “You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips or cloth, lying there in a manger.”- Luke 2:12

This seemingly insignificant event revealed God’s overwhelming and jealous love for us! The Lord sent Jesus as a humble sacrifice to serve and redeem us from our sin, to bring us into right relationship with him! “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do and it gave him great pleasure.”- Ephesians 1:5

Wow! What thankful hearts we can have when we begin to comprehend God’s overwhelming and vast love. He made a way to be with us for eternity! “And they will call him Immanuel, which means God is with us”.- Matthew 1:23.

This is the life we now get to live, filled with the truth and knowledge that God is with us in every season. I may not know what I’m going to do after I graduate or where I’m headed in the next 10 years, but I know that I am safe and secure, I have a purpose. I am loved by my father in heaven!

I celebrate Christmas because I am reminded of the living hope, our wonderful Christmas gift, Jesus Christ. Who is a demonstration of the Lord’s unfailing love! Let us delight and praise his name for all He has done for us! Thank you Jesus!

Advent Day Twenty-Two ✨
In the familiarity of well-known carols, we can easily miss the meaning of the words; one such carol is ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’.

One of the lines is ‘Yet in thy dark streets shineth, the everlasting light, the hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight’.

When Jesus was born life was difficult for people in many ways, and today little has changed. People are anxious for the present and worried for their future and what lies ahead.

In this line of the carol, it speaks of dark streets, which is how life can appear to many. But when Jesus came, he brought, and still brings light into those dark places. Every hope that the people had and all the fears that they carried were met in Jesus, if only they would receive him.

With Jesus, even though life isn’t without its difficulties, we know that he watches over us and are confident of his great love for us, so there is no need to be fearful of what may lie ahead.

In all the festivities this Christmas, remember what was given to us in Jesus.

Advent Day Twenty-Three ✨
We all know about the three wise men in the Christmas story ... but what about the three wise women? Do we find them in the Christmas story? How do find them? We have a clue- the Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. So we need to search for women who displayed the fear of the Lord. And who do we find?

A young woman willing to be boycotted & to put her life in danger within her community as a direct consequence of being obedient to God's will for her life.

An older woman who knew the shame within her community of being childless but who trusted God to answer her prayers for a child.

A very old woman who knew the loneliness & struggles of widowhood at an early age but who trusted God to meet her needs & desires.

Each one was a woman who we read rejoiced and praised God & all displayed a fear of the Lord and thus true Wisdom. And each one found their heart’s desire … as they delighted in God.

One became the mother of Jesus- Mary

One had a son who was to prepare the way for Jesus- Elizabeth

One had the joy of seeing Jesus, the Son of God – the Messiah she had prayed to see her whole life- Anna

All three overflowed with their praise & joy at the birth of Jesus.

To know personally God answers prayers and can be trusted with our lives.

Each one of us is called to be a wise woman...or man – to live our lives in the Fear of the Lord and to experience the adventure of seeing Him answering our prayers as we commit to knowing Jesus as Lord of our lives.
